SIMPLE PLEASURES
past few days have been pretty rain-y.
at work, rain is bad cos show and feeding sessions would be cancelled, so our company wouldnt be able to make as much money as it could in a day.
one particular day when it FINALLY rained after rain clouds hung over since early afternoon, i said to myself "YAY, RAIN!!"
while on the other side of the counter i hear my manager complaining about the rain, sales figures and all that jazz.
i thought to myself, for once, can it NOT be about the company? i know that we wont get as much sales and figures will definitely drop but there's really nothing much you can do about it.
why not just be grateful for the rain for once? this led me to discover a chain of other simple things in life that i was really grateful for. a roof over my head, meals to eat, clouds, the gospel, a holiday job, a school to go back to, great parents, my brothers, my hamster, the SUNSET, internet access, and so many other things that were overlooked and taken granted for, just because we have it everyday or grew up with it around us.
for some kid half way around the world in africa, all those simple "pleasures" were total luxuries that they could just dream of. we are literally "living their dream" but sometimes not satisfied with whatever we have.
D&C 59:7 says that "thou shalt thank the Lord thy God in all things". all things, not just referring to the good things, but also the not-so-pleasant challenges that are specially designed and crafted for every individual to help them grow or others, by observing how they handle these situations. if you sit down and think about it, we all do have loads to be thankful for!
josh is finally back from field camp! great to have him home (:
p.s. i really really like the quote by Elder Richard G. Scott. it was a good find.

LYDIAi took a very long time on this. and now i think it's fabb (:
hello casey's shoe. (what's it doing in my picture ehhh??)
this is the letter that i did. so proud of it!
haha. no comments. today i went for the VJC Canon Photography Expose II 2009 with NP photography club. it was a blast. SO FUNNNN!! tried out a few of the coolest lenses on the earth from Canon (i'm not THAT brand conscious btw) and had a tiny seminar by 3 photographers speaking on travel, action and food photography.
found out that the 2nd speaker was form Ngee Ann Poly (gotta represent yo-) and the food photography guy was the founder of the "i eat i shoot i post" forum thing. how cool is that.
so i had VJC in the morning, combined WDLS ward activity in the afternoon and i saw this kitty at the mrt which was near my place the other night. isn't she cute?
anyway hope ya'll are having productive days at school/ home. like paying attention in class and learning something useful or doing something worthwhile with your time. take care and buh-bye.

alright guys i need help. i took these two pictures at sis charlene's and i can't seem to decide on which is the "better".
picture #1: i like this cos the water looks like frozen awesomeness. it gives off a more sharp and crisp feeling.
picture #2: on the other hand, this shot reminds me of a waterfall-ish kinda thing. it's really soft and flow-y and nice.
WHICH ONE DO YOU PREFER?? i can't decide.
thanks in advance (:
andddd, being sent to kidz world is such a blessing.
i find myself having great conversations with mums and playing with kids than dragging a dull depressed face and mop kidz world.
i believe that if you enjoy the work process, the end results are better.
which has been proven TRUE.
although i was almost completely wet today, then got dried off under the sun (suprisingly) and then got sprayed with water again by some random kid, i was dried again in the end.
anyway, hope ya'll (those applicable) are enjoying your holidays.
take care and buh-bye.
part two.

REAL TOUGH
after visiting my bro's camp at sungei gedong,
i've an increase appreciation for the stuff that he does everyday at camp..
from the many many equiptment to learn, simulators, training etc etc.
army life wouldnt be a breeze for me that is.. (haha)
i'm super grateful to have such an un-complacent bro.
i've been reading a book and it said something that made me want to be a better and more positive person.
not that i'm like super negative now, but you know, everyone has some sort of critisism or doubts of someone's capabilities that if not expressly communicated, would just run through in your head.
it can be hard to try to keep your thoughts and words positive, but it's possible.
having perfectly positive thoughts 24/7 might not be attainable, however, making sure you have positive thoughts at a.. natural rate (oh no.. this sounds like economics "zero unemployment")
as long as your try your best-est to stay positive i'm sure you'l be rewarded in some way.
don't do it for recogniction but for the self satisfaction of having a great day and passing on that attitude to everyone around you.
when you let go of the ropes

HANG ON two days ago i was feeling disturbed by something that happened at work.
apparently i was there when my team leader immediately marked up the price of 3 photos to a tourist who took out a stack (yes, a stack of $50 bills) of money. it was supposed to cost $35 but was charged $54 instead.
i was attending to someone else so i just shot a quick glance to him as i heard what he said.
of course the visitor didn't have a problem parting with an extra $19, but i was a little disappointed with my team leader because he reasoned that it was because "he could afford it" and it was to "push up our sales". i let him know what i thought but was brushed aside. "besides," he told me, "jimmy (the other team leader) does it too."
the fact was that i really didnt care if jimmy or a giant turtle did it, it was unethical/not right and he knew it. when you let go of the ropes and standards that you have been clinging on to your whole life, it can be hard tyring to get back on track.
i was pretty upset and was still disturbed when i went for saturday conference. i was just going for the session due to obligation and because Pres Lai invited the institute students to go for it.
half way when he was referring about somethimg else, he mentioned this.."sometimes we cannot control the moral agency of others." and i was like.. yeah. that's really true. i couldnt control what moral choices my team leader was making so i might as well just let it go, move on and make sure i dont do the same thing. stake conference does help answer your questions and the leaders of the church are truely called of God!
stake youth fireside tonight. be there or be square!

PUZZLES ARE AWESOME PERIOD
(and hello lifen!)
holidays for me start as of the past monday and will last 7 weeks(:
i dedicated yesterday, 3rd March 2009 to rubik's. (how cool is that!)
was practicing stuff for practically the whole dayyyyy.
until mum complained and made me read something good..
but it was really a good read. grateful that she advised.
was just telling myra that on monday my mum and i went to get KFC for dinner and it was raining so i decided to walk in the rain, and test the waterproof-ness of the plastic $10 bill.
mum recorded it. and it's sooo retarded. and there was a car accident getting cleared up as well.
fyi, i just started working again and my schedule's very very packed so i wont have as much time to update plus get pictures. but i'll try!
(which is good, cos an idle mind is a devil's workshop)
i'm being paid to take pictures of kids playing in the water park and to get a tan at the same time!
kandace likes it.
currently on my mind: deco deco deco deco deco deco deco deco deco deco.
