elder chua wrote back to me. (with the rush of technology, it's fun doing snail mail for once.) and with the letter, he gave me this excerpt of an ensign article entitled "it's true, isn't it?".
it's a really great story and i thought it'll be really nice to share it around.
-------------------
Mine has been the opportunity to meet many wonderful men and women in various parts of the world. A few of them have left an indelible impression upon me. I share with you a story I spoke of some years ago. I met a naval officer from a distant nation, a brilliant young man who had been brought to the United States for advanced training.
Some of his associates in the United States Navy, whose behavior had attracted him, shared with him at his request their religious beliefs. He was not a Christian, but he was interested. They told him of the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, born in Bethlehem, who gave his life for all mankind. They told him of the appearance of God, the Eternal Father, and the resurrected Lord to the boy Joseph Smith. They spoke of modern prophets. They taught him the gospel of the Master. The Spirit touched his heart, and he was baptized.
He was introduced to me just before he was to return to his native land. We spoke of these things, and then I said: “Your people are not Christians. What will happen when you return home a Christian, and, more particularly, a Mormon Christian?”
His face clouded, and he replied, “My family will be disappointed. They may cast me out and regard me as dead. As for my future and my career, all opportunity may be foreclosed against me.”
I asked, “Are you willing to pay so great a price for the gospel?”
His dark eyes, moistened by tears, shone from his handsome brown face as he answered, “It’s true, isn’t it?”
Ashamed at having asked the question, I responded, “Yes, it’s true.”
To which he replied, “Then what else matters?”
These are questions I should like to leave with you: “It’s true, isn’t it? Then what else really matters?”

my kor kor (josh) has been back from the army for a tiny break.he's graduated from BMTC (Basic Military Training Center) and is so tan that he almost looks malay. that's just a portion of his army stuff. 2 towels, one it's-gonna-get-all-brown-and-dirty-anyway shirt and X sets of "number four". and i believe he has 100 pairs of army socks. it's nice to have him back.
the dance was DA BOMB. casey did a fab job at the remixes.
his DJ-ing skills surpass most of the other.. hmm.. well.. you know who.
ANYWAY,
music was good and clean, deco was cute, light sticks were glowing and people were there, so all in all, it was a good dance (:

this is sam.my little 14 year old brother.
(i took this picture. haha.)
.
.
i sorta ran outta picture to post up so i've decided to "dedicate" this post to sam.
we don't go around with the dslr and sometimes the only camera is in our phones or is the digicam.
which isn't really ideal.
but it captures the picture nonetheless.
.
and this totally reaffirms that fact that you don't have to own a bulky black scary looking camera to get good shots.
it helps in a certain way, but isn't neccessary.
.
so this is just a couple of pictures he has taken. check it out.
that's "little america". largely dominated by americans (hence the name).
it's quite a sight during halloween and christmas.

the sliding partition thingy between the overflow room and the chapel. neat.

crossing the road. this is one of my favourites.

don't ask. HAHA.
yeah this one is pretty confusing. it's actually the reflection on the window of the sunrise+some trees on the window. and the stuff in the background is the next block.
the mrt.
pretty sky.

grass and some oil thingy. probably from a vehicle or something.
i think the amazing how he can take these pictures with his phone camera.
.
.
haha.
.
.
i call it SKILL (:
the lift thingy
Friday, September 5, 2008 4:49 AM
HDB is building lifts for every floor in my area.good thing i'm occupied for the most part of the day,cos there's drilling and hacking of walls etc going on.today they put up this thing.i think it's the framework/skeleton thingamajig. (that's the first thing you build right?)
just came back from work and i saw it.there were pink and white whispy cloudsi went back, grabbed the camera.but by the time i got back the pink clouds had already drifted out of view. (2 minutes just spolit my kodak moment)this picture is alright but would have been nicer. anyway, i'll be volunteering at spca next monday and friday.can't wait (:
inegrity project
Monday, September 1, 2008 5:02 AM
i love personal progress.
i've got 3 more value experiences and 1 value project left.
YESSSSSS.
for the recent one that i've completed, i was supposed to "create an object that will remind you each day of your commitment to be morally clean and worthy to enter the temple".
some suggestions was to create a picture, a book of quotations or a hand-stiched item)
so i decided to create a book of quotations.
fun fun fun.
i took a day off from work today(mum's making me, and i don't mind) and tied the last few knots. i really like it.
these are 4/11 pages, and are my favourites(:
check it out.
that's the cover. let me see.. i took 3 mintues to do it.
YW medallion(: so pretty.
i really like the 3 pictures on the left. temple
spires, the 4 standard works and the salt lake temple.
very very pretty flower.
this is the last page. my reflection. i got like little mirrors and shiny blue rhinestones and hot glue-gun-ed them on.
so tempted to bedazzle the whole page. awesome-ness.
